In general, most patients use our online doctor service when they’re feeling unwell or need general medical advice. Through a single online doctor consultation, you can also request a doctor certificate online, prescriptions, or specialist referrals — all at no additional cost. It’s just like visiting your regular GP, but fully digital.
Any online doctor script, medical certificate, or referral will only be issued if your consulting doctor determines it is clinically appropriate.

Anyone in Australia with a Medicare card or Individual Healthcare Identifier (IHI) number can access an online doctor for advice and care via telehealth consultations. However, to request services like online doctor prescriptions, doctor’s certificates online, blood test requests or specialist referrals, you must be 18 years or older.
A telehealth consultation is a secure phone or video appointment with an Australian-registered, online doctor. You can speak about any medical concern, just like you would in a face-to-face visit. Access via your mobile, tablet or desktop device at any time of the day.
During your online doctor consultation, your doctor may provide medical advice, an online script, a doctor’s certificate online, pathology or specialist referrals. These will only be issued if your doctor believes they are clinically necessary.
Yes. You can book a doctor online at any time, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays. Our online doctors are available 24/7 to support your health whenever you need it.
InstantScripts does not offer Medicare bulk‑billed Telehealth consultations. This means you are unable to claim the cost of your InstantScripts consultation through Medicare.
However, InstantScripts does provide Medicare‑funded Mental Health Care Plans for eligible patients.
Even without bulk billing, InstantScripts offers highly competitive pricing for medical services - often comparable to, or lower than, the typical out‑of‑pocket costs associated with Medicare‑funded appointments.
Yes. Every InstantScripts online doctor is AHPRA-registered, insured, and based in Australia. They meet the same clinical standards as your regular GP. If a prescription is issued, it will include your doctor’s full details, including their prescriber number.
